Does More Always Mean Better? The Right Number of Workouts For You!

I get asked all the time: “How often should I work out?” There’s a simple answer, but that’s just the start. You need to figure out what works best for you. We usually say that 3-5 high intensity workouts per week is ideal. On the low end, this gives you a workout almost every other day, so that your body is adapting to your workouts. On the high end of 5 per week, this gives you two rest days, this gives you 2 days of rest, which is critical to your recovery.

To help figure out the best number for you, here are some other things to consider:

  • Intensity Over Quantity: Remember, quality trumps quantity. High-intensity workouts, like those at Fit Augusta, give you the results of hours of moderate workouts in a shorter span. However, recovery is crucial. Your body needs time to recuperate.
  • Age Matters: As we age, recovery takes longer. For instance, if you’re in your 20s, 4-6 times a week might be ideal. As you approach your 40s or 50s, 2-4 times can still offer optimal results.
  • Goals in Focus: Are you aiming for muscle bulk or endurance? Depending on your aspirations, you might need more frequent sessions or more recovery periods. Customize, don’t generalize.

Unlike other gyms, Fit Augusta understands the unique needs of every individual. We’re not about one-size-fits-all; we’re about what fits YOU.
