George Lee

I found CrossFit at CrossFit Augusta in 2013, and for the first time, I had found something that I could stick with. It was an amazing way to help me improve my fitness and have fun at the same time.

Now in my 50s, I’m in the best shape of my life. When the opportunity opened up for me to become the owner of CrossFit Augusta in 2015, I jumped on it and never looked back. My passion is helping others enjoy the same healthy lifestyles that I have.

- Ward holds a BS in Sports Nutrition and an MS in Clinical Exercise Physiology.

He found CrossFit in 2009 and hasn’t looked back since. In addition to coaching, Ward is also an Adjunct faculty member for the Department of Exercise and Sports Science at USA Aiken in Aiken, SC. He loves coaching athletes at all levels and loves to see the progress and success of those he coaches.

Dwayne grew up playing sports, and was able to play baseball for Seminole State College during his college years.

He has been a firefighter/EMT-B since 2002, and when he started doing CrossFit in 2012, realized that fitness regimen helped him tremendously with his career. Dwayne and his wife Onnie founded and continue to run Paleo Num Yums, a healthy meal prep company. He feels like he is the healthiest he has ever been and is passionate about helping others on their journey.

Coach Hannah's CrossFit journey began shortly after the birth of her second child.

With having zero background in sports, she started CrossFit while barely being able to do pushups on her knees. “CrossFit helped drive a passion and strength in me I never knew I had! I was in awe of what hard work, proper nutrition, and sleep did for the body and mind!” With this passion she was able to compete twice at the CrossFit Regionals just a few years later. Now, with over a decade of coaching in four different countries, she still loves every aspect of CrossFit. “I love walking alongside my athletes as they reach their goals and discover that confidence you get with every new achievement!”

Laura Godfrey

Laura was active in track and field in high school and loved continuing being active in college, but felt lost in a traditional gym. "I would spend a full hour on the elliptical trying to figure out what to do, then I'd just leave in frustration."

In 2013, her now-husband, Anthony, introduced her to CrossFit in Oxford, MS, and she’s been hooked ever since. Laura was drawn to the variance of each workout and the opportunities to develop skills and strength. At first, the structure and routine were the most important aspects for her, but the community and support keep her coming back. “CrossFit – as fitness and as community – was incredibly influential in maintaining my mental and physical health during graduate school. After moving to Augusta during the pandemic, I joined Fit Augusta right after I finished my first workout. I felt like an instant part of the CFA family!”

Trey Bowling

Trey grew up playing sports throughout high school. After that he used mountain biking in 1994 as a way to get back in shape. Shortly after starting, Trey was approached by Saturn, the car manufacturer, to lead and participate on a off-road cycling team.

That traveled throughout the Southeast racing mountain bikes ultimately specializing in long endurance events such as 100 mile off-road races and 24 hour solo events. He got off the bike after the birth of his daughter in 2005 and as the years went by he ended up in the worst shape of his life. In 2015, Trey’s wife was concerned about his health and recommended CrossFit. He was hooked from day one! He wanted to coach to help others and give back to the community. He saw an opportunity to get involved and coach his son and the other kids and obtained his Level 1 certificate. “I want to make sure that our kids know how important physical fitness is and want to help them build life-long habits.”

Patrick Davison

Patrick grew up in Augusta playing soccer, basketball, and baseball, and later coached middle school soccer. He started CrossFit in 2017 while living in Charlotte, NC and quickly developed a passion for its inclusivity and competitiveness.

Patrick recognizes the lack of opportunity for youth to develop good exercise habits outside of organized sports programs, and understands the true value of making physical education fun. “Building a strong foundation at a young age, outside of organized sports, is not only something these kids will be able to apply for the rest of their lives, but it also fills the void of the off-season and post high-school/college career. My biggest regret was my not starting sooner, so helping these kids master the fundamentals and build confidence at such a young age is truly the best part of my day.”

Chelsea Clark

Chelsea started sports at a young age and was a high-level competitive gymnast throughout her childhood. As a teenager, she took up track & field, where she was eventually recruited to run in college.

Through college she developed a love for Olympic weightlifting which eventually led her to CrossFit. Chelsea started CrossFit in 2015 after moving to Germany, where she quickly fell in love! Shortly after this, the opportunity to take over an affiliate fell into her lap and she jumped at it. She then subsequently built out and ran a corporate CrossFit program. Outside of CrossFit, Chelsea is an avid adventurer & outdoor enthusiast. Over the past few years, she’s completed the W Circuit in Patagonia (56 Miles of terrain), climbed Mount Kilimanjaro (over 46 miles), and scaled Mt Sabyinyo on the border of Uganda, Rwanda and DRC. “Waking up each morning and coaching is the best part of day, I love seeing everyone motivated to be better, move better, and be stronger-that is what lights me on fire.”

Growing up, Sarah competed in cheerleading through high school and college.

In 2015, she tried CrossFit for the first time and never looked back! It helped anchor her in my health and fitness journey through three pregnancies. CrossFit provided a place to push herself mentally and physically, a community of supportive friends, and a part of her day that she always looks forward to. Coaching for Sarah has been the perfect intersection of caring for people and helping them push past things they didn’t think they were able to do.

David Greene

David Greene is a testament to perseverance and passion. As a leading figure for our kids and teens program, David brings in years of experience, having coached his own kids in youth sports since his early days and then coaching young athletes in high school baseball and football at a local school. Off the field, David’s an avid golfer, once playing for a local junior college, and a successful realtor, managing his own real estate firm in Augusta. His commitment to fitness found a new dimension in 2014 when he embraced CrossFit. Soon after, he became an integral part of the Fit Augusta family. Overcoming a significant health challenge from a subarachnoid hemorrhage in 2018, David emerged stronger, turning his experience into motivation for others.

Donnetta Herold

Certifications:
- Functional medicine certified health coach
- Precision Nutrition Level 1 certified

Donnetta started CrossFit at age 50 after being introduced to it by her husband and three grown children. Although she had been running and working out most of her adult life, she found that CrossFit provided a way to improve strength and increase muscle. This was especially important in her efforts to combat her osteopenia while avoiding all of the side effects of medication.

Although she enjoyed practicing as a pharmacist for many years, she found a new passion and purpose in working as a health and wellness coach. Donnetta gets excited about helping people improve their health through lifestyle modifications first if possible, and then only using medications when necessary. She believes food is medicine to our bodies and the benefits of good nutrition can positively impact every area of your life.

Lynn Carter

Lynn’s philosophy towards fitness is a blend of the body, mind, and spirit. As a former college athlete, Lynn evolved from a beginner to an 8-time All-American track and field athlete and a National Champion. With over 15 years of experience in coaching track, her athletic journey took an exciting turn when she discovered CrossFit. This new passion came at a pivotal point in her life, giving her the same intensity she relished during her athletic years. Lynn often mentions that her only wish is that she had started CrossFit earlier! As a CrossFit coach, she’s on a mission to help you unlock your best potential, ensuring that the benefits of CrossFit support your lifelong physical and mental wellness. Outside of coaching, Lynn is an enthusiastic traveler, nature lover, and spiritual motivator. She’s eager to walk alongside you, helping you harness the transformative power of CrossFit for your mind, body, and spirit. Let’s embark on this journey together!

Brandon is a Nurse Anesthesiologist in the Army. He found CrossFit in 2013. but got serious about it after graduate school in 2016. Since then, he’s tried to expand his knowledge of health and fitness. The thing he loves most about CrossFit is how it’s achievable for anyone – from kids to older adults. Nothing makes him happier than seeing seniors being active and enjoying life through fitness. Brandon also believes that fitness is one of the most important contributors to mental health. Brandon has a lot of fun when he coaches, and makes it obvious that his goal is that being coached by him is the best hour of your day.

Larry Diamond

Larry had no background in sports other than riding a bicycle when he tried CrossFit at the urging of his kids. At 60 years old, 280 pounds with high blood pressure, reflux, and being diabetic, he knew he needed to do something. The atmosphere was energetic, exciting, and everyone was supportive and glad to see him. He wasn’t just an out of place fat guy in a gym full of athletes! He was immediately accepted into the CrossFit community. The workouts were tailored to Larry, where he was, and what he could do. They taught him how to move, exercise, and even about good nutrition.

Within 6 months, Larry had lost 50 pounds, and a visit to the doctor showed he was no longer diabetic, did not have high blood pressure, and the reflux was gone. He now goes mountain bike riding with his sons and challenges his grandchildren to keep up!

Larry wants to help others have the same success he has enjoyed in his wellness journey and find the community that helped him achieve it. He wants others to know they can do it no matter the age or ailments; there are people ready and willing to help!

Nate Pickard

Nate believes that maintaining a high level of physical readiness is the key to a long happy and healthy life. A body in motion will remain in motion. Fitness has always been a part of his life starting with childhood athletics and continuing through college. Lacking the structure of organized team sports, and “dad life” slowly creeping in, Nate decided to turn to CrossFit in 2017 to challenge himself. This set him on a journey that made him faster, stronger, and healthier than he has ever been. Outside of the gym you’ll likely find him spending time with his kids, trading equities, or fixing whatever he can get his hands on. He cut his CrossFit teeth here at Fit Augusta and is passionate about helping others become who they want to be. On the days you don’t have the energy, Nate will provide it!
