People often walk into our gym for the first time and expect the same old thing – just like all of the big box gyms and boot camps that leave you to yourself and keep you guessing on what to do next, and providing a one-size-fits-all approach. Fit Augusta’s fundamentals program is our first step of bridging that gap.

Megan walked in to meet with us dealing with the same worries. She’s tried so many gyms and programs around the area, but nothing would stick. It all felt like it was an injury waiting to happen. Like many of us, Megan was very active when she was younger. Then life happened – multiple c-sections, knee surgeries, and other issues have caused her to lose confidence and worry about the uncertainty of doing it on her own. This is why Fit Augusta created the fundamentals program!

Why a fundamentals program ends the “Will I survive this workout?” worry

Our fundamentals program is designed to solve the two biggest concerns that Megan, and many of us, have: “I don’t want to get hurt,” and “I need coaching that speaks my language.” Instead of jumping into a class or semi-private training session, we provide a structured approach of four private sessions to build skill and confidence. While each session is very structured, her coach will make every adjustment needed – sometimes that means lighter weights, and sometimes a completely different movement to protect joints while building real fitness.

  • Personal baseline assessment – Session 1 starts with simple movement patterns. This helps us assess Megan’s strengths and weaknesses, including range of motion and her baseline fitness levels. While the fundamentals program is a structured process, it allows for the flexibility her coach needs to adapt the process to account for injuries and weaknesses.
  • Progressive movement layering – In each session Megan’s coach will increase the complexity, but only enough to challenge her while keeping confidence high. Air squats become weighted squats, with each gradual step building a solid foundation of fitness.
  • Scaling options are our specialty – Bad knees? Step ups replace box jumps. Injured shoulder? We’ll modify the movement to avoid pain. Fit Augusta’s coaches are keenly aware of the options for adapting and scaling the workout, with the key ingredient of maintaining the intended stimulus of the workout. Every workout has a purpose, and we work with Megan to adapt the workout to fit that purpose for her.
  • Community without comparison – Our clients embrace the processes that the fundamentals program supports – proper form first, adapt movements as needed, and only then increase the intensity. She’ll find a supportive group of people who, while detailed goals are different, have the same general purpose in their fitness journey. New athletes will meet real members that will cheer good form as much as anything else.
